Oxazepam is used to treat anxiety and also acute alcohol withdrawal. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming and an anti-seizure effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural substance in the body (GABA).

Oxazepam is used to relieve anxiety, including anxiety caused by alcohol withdrawal (symptoms that may develop in people who stop drinking alcohol after drinking large amounts for a long time).

Oxazepam is indicated for the short term relief (2-4 weeks) of anxiety that is disabling or subjecting the individual to unacceptable distress, occurring alone or in association with insomnia or short-term psychosomatic, organic and psychotic illness.

Severe Anxiety

Anxiety disorders

Alcohol withdrawal

Insomnia

v Dosage :

As per Guidelines of Doctor.

Or

For anxiety:

Adults10 to 30 milligrams (mg) 3 or 4 times a day.

Older adultsAt first, 10 mg 3 times a day. Your doctor may increase your dose if needed.

Children 6 years of age and olderUse and dose must be determined by your doctor.

For alcohol withdrawal:

15 to 30 milligrams (mg) 3 or 4 times a day.
